What is Rubber Raccoon?
Rubber Raccoon is a software studio that builds AI tools for the faces in photographs. Its tools include Unmush, which repairs faces that AI upscalers smeared or changed, and Fidelium, which brings back blurry, low-resolution faces in old photos and keeps every face the same person. One account and one credit wallet work across all of them.
What does Unmush do?
Unmush repairs the faces an AI upscaler ruined, whether it smeared them into mush or swapped them for strangers. You give it the original photo and the upscaled one. It finds every face the upscaler damaged, rebuilds it from the real face in the original and checks the result against it. It works in the browser and through a REST API. Failed checks are not charged.
What does Fidelium do?
Fidelium brings back blurry, low-resolution faces in old photos. It rebuilds every small or soft face sharp, from that same face in the photo, so the people still look like themselves. Scratches, fading and tears are repaired along the way. It runs in the browser, needs no subscription and is paid per photo with credits.
Unmush or Fidelium: which one do I need?
Use Fidelium for an old print or scan where the faces are small, blurry or low-resolution. Use Unmush when you already enlarged a photo with an AI upscaler and the faces came out smeared, waxy or looking like different people.
Is there an API?
Yes. Unmush has a REST API for developers and platforms: send the original and the upscale to POST /v1/jobs and get the repaired photo back, with a face count and the result of every check. The documentation is on the Unmush site.
How do credits work?
One account holds one credit wallet that works in Unmush and in Fidelium. New accounts get 3 free credits once the email address is confirmed. Unmush uses 1 credit per 4 faces. A Fidelium restore is 2 credits per photo (up to 10 faces, 2 more for each further 10). Credit packs start at 9 US dollars and are bought one at a time: nothing renews by itself.
Do your tools invent faces?
No. Every face we put back comes from the real person in your own photo, and every result is compared with that photo before you see it. The people in our sample photos are generated with AI; the upscales come from a popular AI upscaler.
